where does it go?
Bring your recyclables every Thursday to our recycling station across from the market from 8 - 10 am.

The recycling program for La Ventana & El Sargento is run entirely by volunteers. Please help us by properly cleaning and preparing your recyclables prior to bringing them to the market.

Plastic recyclables get donated to the schools, as they collect these products as a fundraiser.
Cardboard is used in composting projects around town. We recycle glass ourselves. NMB has a glass crusher. Many local builders use the crushed glass in construction projects. Styrofoam is recycled locally as well. It is turned into construction blocks. Tetra paks are used for a project in town. Metal brought to a recycling centre in La Paz.

  • Clean cardboard only (no oil or wax)
  • Flatten all boxes and bundle with twine if large amounts
Aluminum
  • Aluminum cans
  • Rinse out & crush cans
Other Metal

  • Paint cans

  • Paint cans can have dried paint

  • Do not crush spots drink bottles and keep lid on (they are being used for a project)

  • Glass bottles (bottles for alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages, food items)

  • All types, including tool and car batteries, rechargeable batteries, disposable batteries

At this time, these are the only materials being accepted by No Más Basura at the La Ventana market. Other items are recyclable in La Paz (click here). Please consider forming a small group with your neighbours to periodically bring other items to La Paz for recycling. Thank you for helping keep La Ventana Bay healthy and beautiful!
